Lee Technologies performed the green field construction of a new central energy plant at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center, located in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. A multi-agency center, Stennis Space Center is NASA’s primary site for rocket propulsion testing and home to the Applied Research and Technology Project Office.
The new centralized energy plant enhances operational reliability, replacing several older generators and UPS systems. The project included decommissioning seven existing generator and UPS systems, and locating all functions into one new centralized power complex that has 6 megawatt of capacity.
This facility provides backup power to a number of critical facilities on the entire campus. The power infrastructure improvements optimize power efficiency and system redundancy to assure cost-effectiveness as well as maximize dependability for critical operations. In addition, this 100,000 square foot medium-voltage facility is designed to withstand up to 140 mile per hour winds for increased protection.
